Meniscus tear

This surgery is one of the largest knee surgeries according to human knowledge today and is known as the final fate of osteoarthritis and the end of wear and tear of the knee joint.

Although it is called joint replacement; but in primary surgery (primary TKA), the original structure of the joint is preserved and only the defective joint surfaces are removed and instead, metal joint surfaces made of titanium with a cobalt chromium coating are bonded with bone cement. Between these two metal surfaces, a hard polymer similar to the function of the meniscus is implanted to stabilize and prevent metal erosion.

The level of satisfaction after surgery, if the surgeon has completed the necessary learning courses and has sufficient experience in the challenges ahead; and also the environmental conditions, such as operating room standards and sterility principles, are at the best level; is mentioned as 85 to 95 percent, according to statistics from the best centers in the world.

In addition to the above factors, the patient's condition will be a very determining factor.

Having underlying diseases such as long-standing and uncontrolled diabetes (Hb A1c > 7.5), taking immunosuppressive drugs, and old age due to a weak immune system are all risk factors for this surgery. Of course, some patients have a physiological age lower than their chronological age.
